Committed to things being hard

Some people unknowingly wear their commitment to things being hard like a badge of honour – probably so much so that their subconscious ensures that it’s true.

I’ve been guilty of this myself – many times.

I had this crazy aha today realizing that I had access to so many of the different books, authors and ideas that I’m passionately interested in today – over 10 years ago – and yet I didn’t fully resonate with them, so there they sat on my bookshelf.

I found it interesting that I resonated with these books enough to buy them – and keep them all these years despite several moves and purges – but that I just wasn’t ready for what they had to offer.

I would attribute that to my Higher Self knowing what was best for me and me – in my ego – thinking I knew better. Clearly not.

Where would I be today if I had embraced and executed on these life changing ideas 10 years ago? Who would I be today? What would my life look like?

I could get frustrated with myself. Or I could just laugh – get the lesson – implement it – do the work and move on.

We are eternal beings after all.

We’re here to learn, grow and evolve.

That’s the point.

I’m grateful for uncovering this pattern – albeit 10 years “late” – and will move forward with the awareness of my tendencies and pattern and a keen eye alert to my sneaky self sabotage.

Thankfully, as taught in A Course in Miracles, all gifts are held for us until we’re ready…
