Don't pick up the bag

Easier said than done, but just don’t pick up the bag.

Other people’s “stuff” is exactly that. Their stuff.

It’s theirs to carry – or not – and theirs to process through.

When we stop taking on other people’s stuff and making things all about us – or taking things personally – it gives them the opportunity to go within and do their own work.

If we pick up the bag for them, it’s essentially enabling them, which could mean they may never take the time to go through that bag and lighten the load so to speak.

Maybe you think by picking it up you’re actually doing them a favour, but in my opinion it’s a dis-service to their growth.

It isn’t easy to do, especially if you like to rescue or solve things (like me), but in the long run, not hooking in will serve you both.

Just be sure to do it from a place of love and squeeze back wherever your body is feeling charged so you’re able to build circuits at the same time.
