Find the gold

Perhaps this may seem contradictory to what I wrote about in Who Do You Listen To, but it’s important to remember that sometimes we have to go through some dirt to find the gold – and that it’s up to us to look for it.

As I was listening to one of my teachers speak today,  I found myself getting triggered by her view of the past year. Knowing she has such a meaningful message and is doing such good work in the world – I chose to hang in there for a little longer, silently rooting her on.

Her message shifted to one of empowerment and I was glad that I stuck around to hear more.

It would have been so easy to shut off the webinar when what was being shared didn’t immediately align with my values – and then I would have missed out on learning some new ideas that will help me as I prepare for the new year.

I was reminded to give people the benefit of the doubt, to not be so quick to judge and to look for the gold.

There’s always something to learn, there’s always a nugget of gold to be found – but you’ve got to be open and willing to find it.
