Getting refocused

I can start to feel like a failure when I continually get off course and reset.

I was comforted to revisit a beautiful analogy that Stephen Covey once shared, about airplanes still arriving at their destination despite being off course 90 percent of the time.

The reality is, as long as you have systems in place and check points along the way, you won't be off course for too long.

You still need to know where you are, where you're going and have a basic game plan to get you there, that way you can quickly course correct and find yourself back on purpose.

Without this important knowledge, you'll end up in "Timbuktu" - become a wandering generality, lack purpose and not have the impact you're here to make.

I've found myself in Timbuktu too often, which can be both discouraging and frustrating.

To keep my time off course to a minimum, I now have weekly accountability meetings with a coach which has been very helpful and enlightening.

What steps do you take to ensure you don't stay off track for too long?
