I don't need to be right
I definitely love being right, but I don’t need to be.
That’s just my ego talking.
A distinction that has served me well, while sifting through all of the noise this past year, is that it’s better to get it right than to be right.
Think about that for a moment.
We can be so attached to being right that we aren’t willing to see when we’re not.
We can’t even see the truth when it’s sitting right in front of us, staring us in the face. It’s like we’re blinded.
Talk about the ego taking over.
More than anything I want to get it right. I want to know the Truth.
So I’m open, I’m curious and I’m willing to be wrong and I’m willing to examine my beliefs.
There’s no shame in being wrong – unless you can’t or won’t admit it.
Apologize, atone, learn, grow and move on.
Be willing. Be humble.
Imagine how different our relationships – and the year ahead – could be if we all embodied this important distinction, if it was more important to get it right than to be right?
