The gifts of motherhood
25 years ago today my life was forever changed in the most magnificent way – my son, Joshua was born.
My heart was blown open and life had meaning beyond just me.
And so my journey as a mom began and the adventure continued with my beautiful “bathroom beauty” Taylor being born at home – in the bathroom – 2 years and 3 days later.
Motherhood set me on an accelerated path of discovery – of self and Truth – knowing that I was being entrusted with two of the most precious gifts.
What a privilege and a huge responsibility – and not one that I’ve taken lightly.
25 years later I’m still trying to figure it all out. I’ve learned that that’s the fun of it – I’ll never figure it all out.
Being a mom to Josh and Taylor has truly been the greatest blessing and honour of my life. I truly love being their mom. It’s the most challenging and most rewarding job.
They are the two people in this world whom I love the most and would do anything for.
As I’ve said to them both many times, I’m so grateful that they picked me to be their mom.
How cool is that to think about – that out of all of the people on this big planet they picked me? It’s mind boggling and really makes me appreciate being their mom even more!
In their own unique and special ways they have both enhanced my life and taught me so much.
They are honestly my best teachers, my greatest joy and my biggest motivators.
They push all my buttons -while pushing me to grow.
They inspire me to be better and do better.
They give me new perspective.
They call me on my shit.
They expand my heart.
They make me think.
They challenge me.
They ground me.
My heart is so full of love and gratitude because of them.
Although there have been many mess ups over the past 25 years of motherhood, my hope is that no matter what, they always feel loved. Because they always will be.
Always and forever, no matter what.
I am blessed and grateful beyond words for each moment – the smiles, the laughter, the tears and the hugs – and for all of the love.
Thank you God for entrusting me with both Josh and Taylor, they have truly been the most precious gifts in my life.
