The power of sacred mornings
Sometimes you realize how important an action is just by doing it and sometimes it’s by not doing it.
Morning routines are a wonderful example of this.
I’m often playing around with my morning routine and changing things up to see what feels best. It’s been a work in progress for me. Generally speaking, I’m doing a combination of drinking water, energy work, intention, gratitude, meditation, reading and yoga type movement.
I’ve had a pretty good run lately on being grounded, feeling connected and starting my day off feeling very peaceful and empowered and ready to take action, which I would attribute to my mornings.
Today however, in an effort to get a head start on some work, I thought I would get started with the work first and then circle back to my morning routine.
Bad idea.
I must admit, this day has not flown. I’ve felt scattered, out of sorts and not productive.
Part of the cause was not prioritizing my sacred morning time, but equally as important, it was breaking my commitment to myself.
The combination is lethal.
The importance of setting the tone for your day first thing cannot be overstated. Whatever those practices are for you to have your day be empowered – make them sacred. Make them non negotiable. Keep your commitments to yourself.
Thankfully, I can hit the reset button and begin again before allowing these feelings to spiral. And I’m very grateful to have really anchored in this awareness, understanding the true value of my sacred morning time and the cost – if I choose to make something else more important.
