Walking in a Winter Wonderland
The first big snowfall is always very special to me.
It’s pretty magical actually.
Perhaps it’s stirring the child within who’s wanting to go out and play, perhaps it’s bringing up memories with my kids when they were younger or perhaps it’s just the beginning of something new that’s exciting – but either way I couldn’t wait to shovel and get out on my walk.
The scene down at the river was literally breathtaking, everything looked so dreamlike. It truly felt like I was walking in a winter wonderland. The trees looked insane with every branch lined so beautifully with fluffy snow.
It all felt so peaceful. I had to just pause by the rivers edge and take in that special stillness that only the snow can bring.
I wanted to take pictures of everything and capture it all – but it’s so much more beautiful to the naked eye.
I couldn’t stop smiling – or singing Christmas songs. My heart was filled with so much joy.
It’s funny to think how many people have such a different perspective of winter. I did too for a while.
However, at some point I decided to embrace it – to accept what is.
Even with our perspective on weather, we are at choice. We can choose our response to it and decide if it’s going to effect us positively or negatively.
The truth is, the weather just is. It’s neutral.
I however, choose to find the beauty in all of it and and am filled with gratitude as I walk each day in the hot, the cold, the rain or the snow. It’s all good.
